Review and Analysis of Final Logo Design and Company Identity

Final Logo:

One of many things that inspired me was the circular, wavy design of the Pepsi logo. Reason being that it looked like it drew people in at night or day.

Companies that use their names as a company brand name are very inspiring, people such as Walt Disney. This helped me to use my name to name the company.

What inspired the colours of yellow+black+purple was that for one, yellow and purple are opposites on the colour wheel, which allows them to contrast each other well, and black because it is a modern colour, and seemingly fits in with any colour.

I made my company a FILM product company because I was inspired by HAT films, as their random nature and connection with the public allowed me to gain an insight into how it all works and what I could do with my own film company to make it better.

Film Logo Design Idea's

I made some design Idea's for the Film Company Logo and copied them into my book.

I used Black, yellow and purple for my main colours as purple and yellow are opposites on the colour wheel they allow each other to stand out. Additionally they also allow more contrast into the logo design.

I would need to use Photoshop to allow the yellow to stand through and to enable a darker purple + black combination.

In my opinion I would prefer to use 5 as its design is unique compared to other companies that are currently out in the film making business.

Services.

Considering that it is a film company, some of my services will include:

  • Animation.
  • Film.
  • Updates.
  • Game Design.
  • Interviews.
I am covering these services because they are some of the more needed updates in society and most people would be interested in seeing whats going on.

The game service allows the company to connect with the more youthful viewers of the companies websites and media. Games cover much of the media, almost as much as films! Gaming is like drama, it brings us together, it tears us apart, but when it comes to you… we'll just cross that second part out.
If you need info, we have it. If you need offers, we have it. So… long story short, come to us!

Animation is a much respected part of film industry as it provides the laughs, joys and wonder that films are getting more and more of these days. With animation, nothing is impossible and nothing is unexpected or unsurprising.

Updates are a major part in - well, keeping people updated!
It's not very nice when you don't know what's going on in the world while you are stuck indoors with nothing but a mug of tea and an electronic device on your lap, so this service should be able to stop those annoying rainy days indoors.

Film is the main reason this company is existent, film plays a HUGE part in media and is remembered  throughout the ages! Without film, this would be a very boring world indeed, and I don't think thats very acceptable when it comes to the fact that entertaining yourself just doesn't work out.

Advertisements… here it comes, it was inevitable. Adverts, those annoying things you have to put up with when in-between your favorite shows on T.V. You watch one and you feel like you've seen them all. But we offer something a bit… well, a bit different. Our adverts VISUALLY HOOK you into them via their bright colours and designs, but even though the adverts are good, some people don't wont that all over their browser when it comes to viewing th website so we made an individual tab where we put them for you to look at later.

Interviews and Interrogation. Believe me, there IS a difference! Interviews are the voice of celebrities, game artists, production companies; generally they are the people behind the company big men.
They supply the world with all your favorite music, films, games (and for some people, adverts!) and much more. Interviews with us and other companies have a line drawn across merely because ours do not involve a heat lamp and rope. You want answers? Here they are, we won't mind some celebrity info now and again…

Mind Map

I have decided on JJ SmithsFilms because the logo design matched the kind of branding. It was suggested that I have it called JJSmith's' because the 's' added a catchier tone to it.

Evaluation

Evaluation of Poster and Advertisement Process.

1. My ideas were generated through pages, through drawing spider diagrams and using Popplet. Each stage followed through as a continuous process so that more information could be gathered thus increasing the quality of my work.

Firstly was trainer companies and how their designs affected their products, from the logo and slogan right down to their design and meaning, After was creating Branding posters and even looking at some of Erik Johansson’s work so that we could get a better insight into how photos and inspirational works are put together.

I then made a Timeline poster so that I could better understand the evolution process of logos through the ages. This also allowed me to practice my drawing skills using Illustrator.

A Composite using Photoshop was achieved by using the mask layer, pressing cmd + I; changing the Opacity and then working the image of a trainer gradually into an image of a museum. I then got to work making a trainer design poster with multiple Ideas of the Final Poster.

I practiced capturing a trainer in a different angle and tone of light to touch up on my conditional lighting knowledge and after that I was to create a Mock Up and then collect my photos of the mountains outside the front of the school as it was easier to capture an image there than anywhere else on the grounds and bushes as well as the work boots described in my trainer poster which the workers had allowed me to obtain.

As my photoshop sessions were being screenshot for each stage of the work and some were captured as a whole using the Quicktime HD screen recording program. The Photoshop program was hard to get to grips with at first, but with some practice I then got the hang of it. These screenshot and videos were converted and then uploaded to bloggers for marking and reference.

I finally got to working on my final poster and once finished, I took the finished image and put it into a billboard to complete the real life situation task, this taught me a great deal about photo editing and how those images can be moved from one piece of work to another to create a completed advertisement.

2. Weaknesses of Idea Generation and Creativity.

My general idea generation and creativity didn’t start out well, and it took a while to think of a compatible trainer or boot to go along with the poster as compatibility was key in this part of the process.

The target audience was for adults so it was to be a simple image design that was capable of grabbing attention within a glance.

Strengths of Idea Generation and Creativity.

The work was beneficial and much of the research was an easy task to complete in a limited amount of time, as much of it was simple information gathering from different sources and I was already used to doing this kind of research in other lessons.

Once I had built up the rate at which that I generated ideas I could focus more and improve work as I went over it and reviewed that of which I had written.

Weaknesses of Sketching out Design Layouts.

My drawing skills aren’t very good when it comes to designing trainers or boots on an advertising scale, nor was it good when it came to discussing the trainers qualities or eye catching detail or design.

Strengths of Sketching out Design Layouts.

I had a few ideas that benefitted the boots and many were used towards the final poster,  as having the general idea in my head made the work process that little bit easier.

Weaknesses of Mock-up.

When I went to do the Mock up, I failed on many occasions with timing and Quicktime screen recording and I had to do it all again for me to complete it within the video.

Strengths of Mock-up.

I had my advertisement and location in my head from previous tasks which allowed me to continue efficiently around my second try of the Mock up.

Photographing light conditions

I wasn’t good at finding good viewpoints until I had a friend to help with some ideas and I didn’t always understand the lighting equipment until I looked into it. This made the process longer than it should be but in that time it was complete along with spotlight and shadowed/shady lighting conditions to finish off with.

Creating the Final Poster.

When making the final poster it was hard to remember everything but after 5 minutes thought, I managed to get it together and complete the task, again with the task taking a little longer than it should.

  1. My poster was good for my target audience as it was simple and be identified from a glance, I reviewed the brief as it was hard to grasp the concept of what was being designed at the time I was distracted as I tried to design the trainer and not the advertisement for it. When I reviewed my work I realised this and re-focused on the advertising poster.

I believe the poster was slightly interesting but to improve I could have thought of a more mentally satisfying slogan or caption for the poster being made.
I think that through trying my best with the photography and the fact that it was taken on the front of the school grounds made it difficult to get the imaged as enhanced as it could be but with much work, it seemed to work out for the final idea.

There wasn’t any technical issues to be exact, the issues were only in the planning as most photos were lost at the start as this delayed the process greatly.

It could have been improved in terms of design and information as the one caption never felt like it provided enough information for someone to buy it at a moments glance.
